Twestival KL : What YOU helped raise!
5 April 2011
Comment

Its finally over. After weeks of planning, Twestival KL was held in Finnegans Irish Bars and Restaurants in Midvalley. It was a night of hanging out with old and new friends, entertained by some of the best acts in the country and of course, raising money for Pertubuhan Masyarakat PRIHATIN in Kota Bharu, a NGO caring for single mothers and kids living with HIV/AIDS.

The next week or so was filled with auctions where there was some competitive bidding over items like a White Bold 3 (thanks to Digi) and BMW Driver's training. It was all in good fun, all the while remembering that there are others less fortunate than us who we can help and do something about.

And help we did.

The humble target to raise was RM12,000. Our ticket sales, TShirt/Notebook Sales + Additional Donations put us at RM11,000. Then, MDec stepped in and decided to lend a helping hand by matching our ticket sales with RM5,000. The collection was now at RM16,000 but it did not stop there. Thanks to YOUR generosity, we managed to raise a whopping RM 10,000 from all the auctions. TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED = RM26,000!!

We thank all of our generous sponsors (please click their logos on the right to visit their sites!), all our supporters and of course every single person who came for our event, who couldn't attend but donated through ammado and everyone who participated in the auction. Thank you very much for the support!

It does not stop here. Dr Zahrin, the Administrative Director of PRIHATIN is coming down to Kuala Lumpur next week for a meeting with the Malaysian Aids Council and we are hoping to arrange a brief meeting with him for a chat so keep following us for updates on our Twitter handle @TwestivalKL. All the donations received will be transferred to the PRIHATIN bank account by the end of this week.

Also, please comment below if you blogged or took photos of Twestival KL, we would like to add it into the list below!

Comment

Thanks to BMW Malaysia, we have 2 spots for the legendary BMW Driver Training courses worth RM1,800 each up for auction!

Learn important skills from trained experts.

It may seem that urban driving merely takes you from point A to B. But even familiar routines can place high demands on your driving skills should an unfamiliar and unexpected condition or obstacle present itself. This is precisely where driver training can make a difference. Acclimatising yourself with different conditions, picking up helpful tips for safe driving, learning the finer points from professionals can make it a smoother road ahead. And BMW Driver Training provides you with all this - through a most exhilarating experience. This could be the most exciting class you'll ever attend.

 30 Years of Training

The first BMW professional driver training was conducted in Germany in 1977. Since then, the training programme has been developed and improved on and introduced to many countries around the world - Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa and, of course, Malaysia, promoting greater safety on the roads.

Check out this blog post and YouTube video on the BMW Driver Training!

 Programs include:

  • Practical exercise in typical traffic and hazard conditions between 50 to 60 km/h.
  • Fixing the right seating posture and rehearsing precise, swift steering.
  • Emergency and targetted braking together with lightning-fast evasive action when confronted by an obstacle.
  • Understeering and oversteering to prepare for cornering close to the limits of handling.
  • Combination of the driving manoeuvres practised in the concluding slalom against the clock.
