Get involved - auction yourselves!

Posted on: March 8, 2010 at 11:10 pm - Comment

The Twestival Kuala Lumpur focus this time round is on a PUBLIC AUCTION!

We want you to pledge your services (whether you want to walk someone’s dog, offer yourself as a lunch date, wash someone’s car) or any goods you have. All proceeds go to Concern Worldwide, the charity benefitting from Twestival Global 2010. Here’s how it’ll work:

To pledge a service/item

Decide what service you want to offer (make sure you are able to fulfill it, and let’s keep it clean, people!) and send a Tweet with your pledge.

  • Your pledge must be within 140 characters (one tweet).
  • Make sure you use the #twestklauction hashtag along with your pledge.
  • Each pledge must state the service/item and starting price for the bid.
  • Twitterers can only offer auctions for services from themselves or goods they themselves possess.
  • If you are selling an item, attached an image (TwitPic, Yfrog etc) of the actual item in your tweet.

Note: The Twestival KL committee will scan the tag for auctions everyday and edit it into the Wiki. Only approved auctions will make it to the Wiki. Each approved auction will get a bid number attached to it e.g. [001]

To bid for a service/item

1. Visit the Twestival KL Wikispaces Page to see what services or items are up for grabs.

2. Bid for items by tweeting:

[Bid number - associated with the service/item you want] [Your bid amount] #twestklbid

Note: We will scan the tag for bids everyday and edit them into the Wiki. The amount by the highest bidder will be updated in the Wiki.

3. On March 25, we will open all auctions from the last online bid, and all those present will have the opportunity to outbid the highest bidder from online. If you are unable to attend, but still want to bid for an item/service, please make a bid and drop us another Tweet using the #twestklbid informing us. We will be in touch.

Getting the party started in Kuala Lumpur!

Hey folks!

We told you that we’ll have more details for you - and here they are. First of all, thanks to @nigelais who has come on board again to volunteer with Twestival KL, we have our very own logo!

Twestival KL

Now, for more details.

Twestival KL has such a great time last year and we want to take things one step further. What this means is that our Twestival campaign this year is more than just the gathering on March 25. We want to use Twitter to run our campaign for us … and we want YOU to get involved!

Our campaign this year revolves around a public auction where you - tweeples from the Twittersphere - can pledge your services or items to benefit Concern Worldwide! More information on how the auction will work here!

Don’t worry - Twestival’s motto is Tweet.Meet.Give. so ours will not be an online only campaign. On March 25, together with many, many other cities around the world (and two others in Malaysia - Penang and Kota Kinabalu), we will be organising a physical Twestival KL event as well!

We’re in the process of finalising the details of the night now (yes, we know the date and the time so make sure you mark your calendars!) and will get back to you soon with details! Stay tuned.

Thank you for supporting Twestival. Let’s make this another one to remember!

How to get your invites?

Posted on: September 5, 2009 at 10:13 pm - Comment

Thanks to everyone who has responded to our Twtvite!

Many people are getting worried, the list is almost full and there are more of you who would like to join us on Sept 12 for Twestival KL.

Fear not.

Everyone, including those registered via Twtvite, will need to get their physical invites before the day of the event to qualify for the RM30 (minimum donation!). Entry at the door will be at a minimum donation ofRM40.

Those who have registered via Twtvite can collect your invites from the Text 100 office, as mentioned in the earlier blog post.

However, if this is too inconvenient, your friendly organising committee has volunteered to make arrangements to pass you the invites as various locations in KL and PJ (this is on our own time, so please be sympathetic if we can’t always make the time and location of your choice).

Anyone not registered, but who would like to attend too can contact us to get the invites.

If you are in Bangsar, contact @ling_chan

If you are in MidValley, Hartamas, The Curve or Kota Damansara area, contact @radianceleong

If you are in Cheras or Ampang or Bangsar, contact @davidlian

If you are in Phileo Damansara (and the surrounding SS16, 17 areas) or Taman Tun or Bangsar, contact @nikicheong

If you are not on Twitter (why aren’t you?) but are at the locations listed, email us at twestival.kualalumpur@gmail.com and we will get you in touch with one of them (us!).

We’d like to remind everyone again that this is a charity event, and the invites are available at a MINIMUM DONATION. So if you can donate more, please do!

Thanks to the generosity of EF/AVHHF all donations and ticket sales are being matched through March 25 up to $100,000.

100% of proceeds support Concern Worldwide
